1.Post doctoral Scientist position
The Global Surgery Group has an opportunity for a Post doctoral Scientist - Mass Spectrometry, located in Somerville, New Jersey.
The successful candidate for this Post doctoral Scientist position will become part of the Analytical Characterization team in partnership with the company's research and development organization. The major responsibilities of the candidate involve applying state-of-art Mass Spectrometry techniques to perform studies such as for trace unknown impurities in complex polymer matrices, degradation products of polymer systems, small molecules/polymer interaction products, extractables/leachables, etc. The successful candidate is expected to foster team collaboration with other analytical associates in techniques such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy & Gel Permeation Chromatography. The expected duration of this position will be 2 years.
The Post doctoral Scientist will have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline. The preferred candidate will have up to 2 years of industrial experience. In-depth knowledge of Mass Spectrometry instruments and hands-on experience on instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is required. Extensive research experience in MALDI/Mass spectrometer is required. Experience in the area of synthetic polymer and/or biologics analysis in relation to MALDI/Mass Spec is preferred. Prior experience with MALDI tissue imaging is preferred. Excellent oral & written communication skills and problem solving ability are required.
Experience and knowledge with Bruker MALDI/TOF instrument is preferred. Experience and knowledge with GC/MS and LC/MS is preferred. Familiarity with NMR, FTIR and other spectroscopic and chromatographic methods are preferred.
2.Staff Scientist – Mass Spectrometry
The Global Surgery Group has an opportunity for a Staff Scientist – Mass Spectrometry, located in Somerville, New Jersey.
This Staff Scientist position will become part of the Analytical Characterization team which works in partnership with the company’s broader Research and Development organization. The major responsibilities include applying state-of-art mass spectrometry techniques to perform structural elucidation & quantification studies (trace unknown impurities in complex polymer matrices and biologics, degradation products of polymer systems and biologics, drug/polymer interaction products, extractables/leachables). Additional responsibilities include developing experimental strategies in collaboration with project team members, and communicating results and technical recommendations in written reports and oral presentations. The successful candidate is expected to perform hands on experiments independently while fostering team collaboration with other analytical associates in techniques such as NMR, FTIR, and Gas & Liquid Chromatography.
Required qualifications are listed below:
Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related discipline with a minimum five years of industry experience or Master in Chemistry or a related discipline with a minimum eight years of industry experience is required.
In-depth knowledge of Mass Spectrometry instruments and hands-on experience on instrument maintenance and troubleshooting is required.
Strong experience in biologics characterization by mass spectrometry is required. Experience with protein sample preparation, separation and digestion is required. Mass spectrometry software manipulation and database search in addition to manual spectrum interpretation is required.
Excellent oral & written communication skills and problem solving ability are required.
Experience with pharmaceutical compound analysis, both small molecule and biologics, is highly preferred. Particular attention will be given to candidates with knowledge or experience with thrombin, fibrinogen, and antimicrobials.
Hands-on experience in structural elucidation & quantification by various Mass Spectrometry techniques is preferred.
Experience of test method development and validation is preferred.
Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and/or Medical Device industry is preferred.
Ability to expand the organization’s knowledge base to advanced Mass Spectrometry techniques is desired.
Familiarity with NMR, FTIR and other spectroscopic and chromatographic methods is desirable.
